Rajeev’s veins vibrated under his skin. She had shattered his control and now he didn’t know what to do with her. The thought that she might leave India, leave his bed, obliterated him. He couldn’t let her leave. Which meant he had to keep her and the only way he could keep her was if he made her want to stay. With him.

Six months ago when she’d dropped into his arms and he’d threatened her with jail time, he’d pretended to fall for her ‘look, a spaceship!’ prank so she could skid past him and get away. He could have so easily have stopped her in less than a heartbeat. But he hadn’t. He hadn’t because in the space of those few minutes when he had her in his arms, she had shocked him awake, had erased the last ten years of his unfeeling life.

She had melted his blood and heated his cold body. He’d seen beauty for the first time in a decade, and he’d wanted to touch it and be touched by it. He hadn’t brought her back into his arms that day because he hadn’t known what he would do with her. She was right; she had scared him, because he’d felt emotion he had never allowed himself to feel.

But that hadn’t stopped him from picking up the earring she’d dropped in the process of falling out the window. He should have given Anjali the silver cat hanging from a loop so that she could give it back to her friend. But he’d slipped it into his pocket and kept it in his bedside drawer. And every night before he slept, he opened the drawer and looked at it, and sometimes he touched it. Then he’d remember his brother and the pain he’d lived with all his life, how Rajeev had failed him, and he’d slam the drawer shut. He needed to punish himself a little more. Always a little more.

But now she was here, hot and wet beneath him and he had to deal with her without his control, without his will to continue punishing himself for not saving his brother. He didn’t stand a chance. He didn’t love her, he kept telling himself. He was addicted to her and like all addictions, he could break the habit when he chose. He just needed to get her out of his system.

She moved her soft but firm body beneath him and his cock slipped in a little farther. Her hot, wet flesh hugged him tightly. The scent of her skin, the color of her eyes, the shape of her lips had all haunted him and would haunt him until the day he died.

She unbuttoned his shirt and her hands roamed down his chest, leaving heat wherever she touched. Everything about her stunned him and awed him and he wasn’t a man accustomed to being stunned and awed by a woman.

She drew him in more, into her body, into her. And he let himself slip in deep, anchoring into her, never letting her go.
